Mohan Bhargava, is a scientist who works for NASA. He is living in the United States for 12 years now. He has had a deep connection with India all these years but somehow in the course of time he had totally forgotten about it. He was busy with his life, working day and night on projects getting NASA ready for its next big thing. Suddenly a day comes when he realizes that there is person in India waiting for him to come back. Mohan comes to India in search of her. He finds her. She was Kaveri Amma who was his nanny in his childhood and she was the only one he could her as family. He comes back to her but not to stay with her but to take her away ... away from her children ... from her village ... away from her homeland ... away from her Swades, her motherland India. He lives in her village for 5 weeks and learns about India, he learns how people suffer ... but still are happy. He learns how people just sit and wait for a messiah who will come and save them and end their suffering. He learns how a carpenter was banished from the society because he chose agriculture as his occupation. But he realized that these people were his own. They shared the same genes as him.He made electricity from water He persuaded fathers to send their children to school so that they can learn something more about their own trade. But he too was learning something ... learning to love ... to love a woman ... to love his country ... to love his Swades. He comes back to light his own bulb !

Yes I am talking about the movie Swades which has a very deep impact on my mind. It has changed my thinking. It has made me learn to love my own Swades.
